In the five years of the action “360 minutes for Baikal” from the shores of the lake took out 140 trucks garbage
Annual all-Russian action of En+ Group “360 minutes for Baikal” this year will be held for the fifth time. In honor of the anniversary, the organizers decided to hold it in the form of eco-marathon, which consists of five environmental activities. As noted by the Director of public relations En+ Group Elena Rollins . “all shares of marathon dedicated to educational changes on the lake Baikal. June 18, on the Small sea began to work the robotics, for ten days in it will be trained 90 trainers on robotics. They also will clean coast of Baikal”.
On the same day, 50 employees the EuroSibEnergo removed debris from another point on the coast — on the territory of Baikal biosphere reserve, near the village of Tankhoi. Thus, the ecological marathon is held simultaneously on the territory of two regions — Irkutsk region and Buryat Republic.
For several hours the volunteers collected 400 bags of trash and about a ton of scrap metal. All the garbage (aluminum cans, plastic bottles, glass and scrap iron) will be sent for recycling or disposed of in a special way.
The second stage of the marathon with the participation of young professionals from the camp of Energomera will be held in a month. And in August there will be two more eco-activities on cleaning of the coastal territories of lake Baikal of garbage. Concluding, the fifth step in the action “360 minutes for Baikal”, which is September 5, 2015 will again be on the shores of lake.
Over the past five years, the number of participants has increased many times, the event went far beyond the country’s borders. If in 2011 the debris on the shore of lake Baikal has collected a total of 100 employees of the company En+ Group, then a year later, the number of volunteers has increased to 420. They were mostly representatives of public organizations and students. Last year the action was attended by over three thousand volunteers, including those from abroad — residents of Vietnam, Poland, Germany, USA and UAE. Directly in day of action joined by local residents, which allowed not only to increase the number of participants, but also to cover many more points of service around the lake. Garbage torgda cleaned in 28 points on the lake.
In just five years, shares the shores of lake Baikal was cleaned and disposed of about 140 garbage trucks.
“We are pleased that this event is not just an ordinary maid, for many people it is an event, and for the families to some extent even the ability to give the basics of ecological education for children”, — said Elena Rollins.
This year through the marathon and the volunteers who during the summer live on the coast, the action “360 minutes for Baikal” will reach a new level. This will allow to collect more debris, increasing the scale of the territories involved and to clean even hard to reach places.
